BIO

 

Massimo Saverio Maida

was born in Naples in 1972.

He’s Multidisciplinary Creative Content, Film Director, Sound designer, Producer and Screenwriter whose works arise from a continuous mingling of cinema, animation, documentary and contemporary art.

 

 

 

 

As Creative Sound Designer has  just finished working on the Sound Prologue for the drama and experimental feature film CREATURA DOVE VAI ? by Marco Piccarreda and Gaia Formenti, selectd to FIDMarseille, International Competition 2019.

 

STOICHEIA is his latest art work, official selection to FILE - Electronic Language International Festival, SESI Gallery of Art, Sao Paulo City, BR, 2019, ASOLO Art Film Festival, 

Treviso, IT and at 14th Annual 60 Seconds or Less Video Festival, Washington, US.
 

As Concept Exhibition Designer he making at the innovative project  POP ART Exhibition Multimedia Show, curated by Gianni Mercurio.

For the BBC Radio 3 he oversaw the conception, direction and design of K. A series a Micro Art Film promoting "In The Shadow Of Kafka", a series of documentaries and drama on BBC Radio 3. Subsequently, the concept is declined in a music video based on the original music of the London band Blue-Eyed Hawk; then selected at international festivals, such as: Film Fest 52 (USA), Hampshire Film Fest (UK), New Haven International Film Festival (USA), River Film Festival (IT), The Monthly Film Festival (UK), TOFF The Online Film Festival and to Pesaro Film Festival (IT).

With the original screenplay THE WHITE ALPHABET, he won the Screenplay Feature Drama Award at the Los Angels Independent Film Festival Awards; he was selected to enter The Global Script Challenge Taking Place During to Oaxaca Film Fest (MEX), and he was official finalist at the 2016 London Film Awards (UK).

In 2016, the art work STUCK IN THE DARK, it exposed in the Museo MAXXI during the Bnl Media Art Festival (Rome), Delete TV Film Festival (London, Los Angeles, Melbourne), Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival in Hawick (Scotland), Tasmanian International Video Art Festival (Australia), 52° Mostra Internazionale Del Nuovo 
Cinema (Pesaro), Invideo at Spazio Oberdan in Milan and presented on December 2015 at the Screengrab 7 Media Arts Award (Australia).

He graduated in Animated Film Directing and Illustration at the ISA in Urbino, and in Film Directing at the School of Cinema Television and New Media of Milan, where he will

be running workshops in 2016 New Media focused on Audiovisual Storytelling.

 

In 1996 he wrote and directed the animation short Manuela, Claudia, Silvia for Bozzetto Film, which won the Fedic 1997 prize, and it was subsequently included in the catalogue Animania - 100 di Cinema d’Animazione produced by the Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema.

 

From 1998 to 2002, worked as a researcher and creative consultant at the McCann Lab, a creative research laboratory at the advertising agency McCann-Erickson Italia.

In 1999 and in 2005, he won the Paesaggi Umani Productive Prize at Milan’s Filmmaker Film Festival with the shorts Acquario and Fili.

 

In 2001, he wrote, directed and produced Sotto di me, an experimental short animation for the next generation mobile phones, which received a special mention at the first edition of the Web TV Festival - Palazzo della Triennale in Milan, the second prize at the Future Film Festival in Bologna, in 2005 was selected at the Anigma - International Festival of Novosibirsk (RUS) and in 2009 it was exposed to the Mantica Festival (IT), cured by Chiara Guidi.

 

In 2001 he started Bookshots, a multiplatform video format for promoting book reading and buying in a new and original manner. From 2004 to 2010 he worked with Sky Italia as an editorial consultant and producer.

 

In 2004,  with the work Ti lascio he won the first edition of Talk to the City, a project organised by Cultural Association Careof & Viafarini. In 2005 he wrote and directed the short art film Ho avuto paura, a work commissioned to promote the international event Hype Gallery, sponsored by Hewlett Packard, in Italy.

 

In 2006 he made the art video Film nella scatola: Nosferatu, a work commissioned for the Scatola di montaggio a Culture Association at the Posteria venue run by the Fondazione Mazzotta, which was subsequently presented by Careof & Viafarini to FIAV at the Arts Centre of Santa Monica in Barcelona (E).

 

In 2007 he wrote, directed and produced the poetic documentary I cani credono ai ladri e agli spettri, which was included in Art Year Book, the international exhibition of video art, curated by Renato Barilli.

 

In 2008 he oversaw the conception, direction and design of the animation logo for ParcoFilm, Film Production Company as commissioned for the screening of the film Il Divo by P. Sorrentino at the Cannes Festival in 2008. In 2008 he won the Visual Identity Retequattro competition to More Than Zero Crossmedia Festival (IT).

 

In 2014 he completed the Video Art Project KRINO, 3 Micro Film on the concept of Crisis and Humans, an project of Observation Documentary Film shot in NYC and on the Adriatic coast in Italy. In 2015 he creates the video project 10 Video Haiku, in the official selection of the River Film Festival (IT) and TOFF, The Online Film Festival. CV
